The Maya Area:
Maya was a big area with the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean surrounding it. Maya had a lot of city-states and was very powerful. Because of the huge land, they had more opportunities to use the land for efficient things. They had larger city-states, larger farmlands, great access to water, etc. Since Maya was so big, it was hard to travel around shortly, so usually, Mayan people used to just stay in their homes. Mayan cities were fine until later on when Maya started struggling, and cities began to become abandoned, including Tikal, the Mayan capital. Desperately, the Mayans began building more and more cities, but they collapsed when the Spanish finally found a way to conquer Maya. The Spanish had tried to take over Maya for several years, and time by time, attempt by attempt, it failed. Finally, around 1540 C.E., the Spanish had taken over Maya, and the Maya collapsed.
